What Causes Warehouse Damage?

Nearly every occurrence of warehouse damage is caused by one of seven factors:

  • Physical damage is caused when products are handled, sometimes before they arrive at your warehouse.
  • Prolonged storage will cause some merchandise to deteriorate simply as a function of age.
  • Some items are susceptible to absorbing foreign odors.
  • Certain products may be contaminated by insects or rodents.
  • Inadequate temperature control may be a cause of product deterioration.
  • Some merchandise is spoiled because of chemical reactions inside the container.
  • Mold, fermentation, or other bacterial action may make some food products unsafe.
