If you are the boss, it means three things:
- If you have a problem, you will come to me to discuss it.
- When I give you an assignment, I will not have to follow up to be sure that you completed it.
- You will tell me if you think I am wrong.
If you are one of my direct reports, it means these three things:
- You won't "shoot the messenger."
- You will treat me with dignity and respect.
- When I admit a weakness, you will help me improve.
